A Café Built for Cyclists

Casa de Ciclistas was started by cyclists. The name is not a brand decision — it is a description. The space, the culture, and the morning rhythm of this café are built around people who ride.

If you arrive on a bike, you are in the right place. If you arrive on foot and want to get on a bike, we can sort that out too.

Free Morning Bike Rides

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:30am, Casa de Ciclistas runs a free guided mountain bike ride. Bikes and helmets are included — no equipment needed, no experience required. Routes go through the town, along the reservoir roads, and into the countryside surrounding Guatapé. Small groups, relaxed pace, real terrain.

Show up before 7:30am. Have a coffee first if you want. Then ride.

What the Rides Are Like

Not a tourist activity in the packaged sense. Routes change depending on who shows up and what the group can handle. A solo traveler on their first mountain bike gets a different experience than a cyclist who has been riding for years — the guide reads the group and adjusts. The common thread is that everyone sees a version of Guatapé that most visitors never reach.

What Is Included

  • Mountain bike, sized to fit
  • Helmet
  • Guided route — no navigation required
  • The ride is free. No booking, no deposit, no catch.

For Cyclists Passing Through

If you are on a longer cycling route through Antioquia or Colombia and Guatapé is on the way, Casa de Ciclistas is a natural stop. The team understands what a cyclist needs after a long morning: real food, good coffee, a place to sit without being rushed, and actual conversation about what the road ahead looks like.

Ask about conditions, routes, and local knowledge. The team and the broader Mountain Bike Colombia network have covered most of the roads in this region. The information is available and freely given.

The Food

Breakfast and lunch built for people who use their bodies. Sourdough from a 200-year-old starter, baked fresh every morning — dense, real bread that earns its place as pre-ride fuel. Eggs, granola bowls, fresh juice, Colombian coffee. A menu designed for people who are going to do something after they eat.

Amazonian ice cream after the ride: copoazú, arazá, borojo — flavors sourced directly from Indigenous communities in the Colombian Amazon through Dulce Amazónica. Worth the stop on their own.

Mountain Bike Colombia

Casa de Ciclistas is connected to Mountain Bike Colombia — a wilderness experience company running cycling expeditions across Colombia, including humanitarian missions in the Amazon focused on Indigenous communities. If the free morning rides open an appetite for something longer and more serious, Mountain Bike Colombia is the next conversation. Ask the team.

Where We Are

Calle 32 #28-91, central Guatapé. Open from 7:30am every day except Tuesday. Bike storage available. The morning rides depart from outside the café.
