About Casa de Ciclistas

Casa de Ciclistas started as two separate passions that ended up at the same table.

Johana brought the food side: years of studying coffee, baking, and building recipes that actually reflect what good breakfast should taste like. Marcel brought the bikes: a decade of guiding cyclists through Colombia’s mountains and deep into the Amazon on humanitarian expeditions.

We opened on the malecón in Guatapé because it made sense. It’s where people start their mornings before La Piedra, where cyclists roll through on long rides, and where travelers slow down long enough to eat something worth eating.

What We Do

We serve breakfast and lunch in Guatapé — fresh, made-to-order, with ingredients sourced to match the flavors of this region. Our menu runs from 7:30am to 7:30pm.

  • Breakfasts built for the morning climb
  • Coffee drinks, fresh juices, and smoothies
  • Main dishes, pizzas, and breads for lunch
  • Pastries and baked goods from the house kitchen

Free Morning Bike Ride

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we run a free guided mountain bike ride leaving from Casa de Ciclistas. It’s led by Marcel, the same guide who runs multi-day Amazon expeditions with Mountain Bike Colombia.

The ride is free. Bikes and helmets are available to borrow. Registration required.

The Amazon Cultural Embassy

Casa de Ciclistas is a co-founder of Dulce Amazónica, the Amazon cultural embassy on the Guatapé malecon. Together with Mountain Bike Colombia, we built Dulce Amazónica to create a fair-trade home for the artisanal works, Amazonian foods, and cultural knowledge of partner communities across the Colombian Amazon.

Marcel and Johana lead Mountain Bike Colombia’s Amazon expeditions: cycling journeys into the Colombian Amazon that help fund and sustain the embassy and the community systems behind it. All proceeds from those expeditions, and from our café and bakery operations, are reinvested into Dulce Amazónica.

Our ingredients are all sourced from the communities where we ride our bikes with fair trade, not charity.
